All venues of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games have achieved 5g coverage, which provides strong support for building a "smart Winter Olympics" and greatly improves the video viewing experience; 5g has achieved remarkable results in empowering thousands of industries. New business forms and models emerge one after another, and the digital economy shows a momentum of vigorous development. In 2021, the business income of communication industry, software and information technology service industry increased by 8% and 17.7% respectively.
According to Tian Yulong, chief engineer and spokesman of the Ministry of industry and information technology, China's 5g construction and application remain at the leading level in the world. At present, 5g network has covered all prefectures and cities, all counties and urban areas, and 87% of towns and townships, which has played an important role in stabilizing growth and investment. According to the overall deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the Ministry of industry and information technology will make great efforts to promote the integration of network, application and industry.
First, solidly promote the construction of 5g network. By the end of this year, the number of 5g base stations will reach 2 million. The scale of infrastructure construction should be continuously expanded, and it should be built on demand, optimize the layout, and strengthen the network coverage for key areas such as enterprise factories and industrial parks. At the same time, improve the coverage depth in densely populated areas such as high-speed rail, transportation hubs and shopping centers. Continue to promote the wide coverage of counties and towns.
Second, vigorously promote 5g application innovation and development. It is an important starting point for the Ministry of industry and information technology to continue to deeply implement the 5g application "sailing" action plan. Run the "blooming Cup" 5g application competition, tap more new achievements and technologies, and promote the promotion and implementation. At the same time, we should be guided by the needs of the industry, further promote the application scenario demonstration of "5g + industrial Internet", carry out 5g + medical and health and 5g + smart education pilot, and continuously deepen and expand to agriculture, culture and tourism. For personal applications, a number of new intelligent terminals and apps should be launched to further improve users' 5g experience.
Third, vigorously promote the iterative upgrading of 5g technology. We will strengthen the research and development of key chips and core devices, and support the industry to actively participate in the formulation and docking of international standards. At the same time, we should continue to promote the research and development test of 5g enhancement technology, expand the integration ability with vertical industries, enrich 5g application products, promote enterprises to launch 5g chips and other module products at more levels and prices, meet the differentiated, customized and personalized needs of different industries, different fields and the broad masses of the people, and make 5g technology develop rapidly through the scale of application.
